This website is published by PEI Group (“PEI”). PEI is registered in England no. 6135779 and is also registered with the UK’s Information Commission as a Data Controller (registration no. Z1135110) in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

This privacy policy covers the processing of personal data of all individuals (“users”, “you” and “your”) who visit, register, or have registered on their behalf, their details (“data”) on any of the websites built and maintained by us (“site” and “sites”). PEI respects the personal data protection rights of PEI’s users and is strongly committed to protecting the personal data of PEI’s users. This privacy policy describes how PEI collects and makes use of your data and the cookies PEI uses on PEI’s sites. This privacy policy also describes your data protection rights, including a right to object to some of the processing that PEI carries out or where PEI relies on consent, how to withdraw that consent. Personal Data PEI Collects Directly from You:

PEI generally collects personal data directly from you when you interact with PEI or make use of PEI’s services.  This includes:

  • your name and username.
  • Personal photographs
  • your business address, email address and phone number.
  • some of your billing details, including a billing address.
  • your marketing preferences, including any consents you have given us.

Information PEI Collects Automatically from Your Device

PEI collects certain personal data directly from your device, when you visit the website.  This includes, in particular, information related to the browser or device you use to access PEI’s site such as Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, date and time that you visited the site, the type of Internet browser and computer operating system, referral source, length of visit, page views and website navigation paths.

For any events in which we operate badged access, information about your location may be stored. For example, you may be required to use your badge to gain access to certain areas, and this information will be used for future event planning.

Personal Data PEI Collects from Third Parties

PEI collects certain personal data directly from third parties who provide services to PEI or carry them out on our behalf, such as payment services providers. This includes, in particular, your payment details, including credit card details, where you subscribe to PEI’s services or buy products from us.

Purposes for Which PEI Processes Your Information and Legal Basis for Such Processing:

PEI processes your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To fulfil a contract, or take steps linked to a contract, this includes:
    • To communicate with you; and
    • To take payments and provide you with requested services.
  • To conduct PEI’s business and pursue PEI’s legitimate interests, in particular:
    • To allow PEI to develop and improve the site and to protect PEI’s content;
    • To personalize PEI’s site, products or services for you;
    • If you provide a credit or debit card as payment, PEI also uses third parties to check the validity of the sort code, account number and card number you submit in order to prevent fraud (see data sharing below);
    • To allow us to ensure a user’s continued access to the site; and to assess the activity of attendees at our events.
    • Provide your contact details to any exhibitor or sponsor where they may scan your badge.
  • Where you give consent
    • To notify you of new products, promotions and services from PEI;
    • To place certain types of cookies and similar technologies; and
    • On other occasions where PEI asks you for consent, PEI will use the data for the purpose that PEI explains at that time.
  • For purposes which are required by law:
    • In response to requests by government or law enforcement authorities conducting an investigation.

With Whom will PEI Share this Data:

PEI may share your personal data with PEI’s affiliates, third party service providers, in a case of change in control, or with government authorities, as described below:

Service Providers:  Your data may be shared with third parties service providers who will process it on PEI’s behalf for the purposes identified above.  Such third parties include providers of website hosting, maintenance, research and analytics solutions, IT services, advertisement display functions, related analytics for PEI’s sites and identity checking payment solutions. PEI is sharing your data with them for various reasons including to allow them to help improve PEI’s services, to conduct analytics services or to send you advertising messages (with your consent) on PEI’s behalf.

Advertising Service Providers:  Designated service providers assist PEI with advertisement display functions and related analytics for PEI’s sites.

Sale, Merger or Change in Control:  In the event PEI goes through a business transition, such as a merger, being acquired by another company, or selling a portion of its assets, users’ personal information will, in most instances, be part of the assets transferred. Therefore, it may be disclosed to PEI’s advisers, any prospective purchaser’s advisers and will be passed to the new owners of the business and with designated service providers.

PEI may share with other third parties’ information about PEI’s site users, such as your use of this site or other websites, and the services provided on this site or other websites, but only on an anonymous and aggregate basis.

Subsidiaries:  PEI shares the information PEI collects from and about you with the following subsidiaries: (i) PEI Group (Hong Kong); and (ii) PEI Group (New York, United States), and their respective employees in order to enable you to access PEI’s services. This list is subject to change from time to time and you should periodically check the site for changes.

Sponsors and Exhibitors: When you express an interest on our websites or attend one of PEI’s events or conferences, PEI may share your details with certain sponsors and exhibitors, as permitted by law.

Sponsors and other Third Party Providers: Consistent with the choice you make when providing personal information, PEI may also share your personal information with a sponsor or other third party (i.e., third-party provider) that provides you with special offers and/or promotions that may be of interest to you, subject to your consent.

Government Authorities: Personal data may be shared with government authorities and/or law enforcement officials if required for the purposes above, if mandated by law or if required for the legal protection of PEI’s legitimate interests in compliance with applicable laws.

Please note that if you make use of certain features of this site (e.g. sharing news stories of interest) any information you or others voluntarily disclose through use of these features, becomes available to the public and/or other users whom you have designated. If you choose to provide access to designated individuals, please be aware that any information you post will be visible to such individuals for their use. PEI is not responsible for the information that you or others choose to disclose publicly on this site, and neither PEI’s nor others’ use of such information is subject to this privacy policy.

International Transfer of Data:

In order for us to enable you to access PEI’s services, the information you provide us or that PEI collects may be transferred or accessed by entities outside of the EEA including in the following countries:

  • PEI (Japan)
  • PEI (Australia)
  • Ascentrik (Marketing Services Provider) (India)

Where your personal data is transferred outside of the EEA and Switzerland, and where this is to an affiliate or service provider in a country which is not subject to an adequacy decision by the EU Commission (see here), PEI will take steps to ensure your personal information is adequately protected either by EU Commission approved Standard Contractual Clauses (see here), an appropriate Privacy Shield certification in the case of transfers to the US (see here), Binding Corporate Rules (see here), or other appropriate safeguard. Links to Third-Party Websites:

Websites of partners of PEI and other websites you may access via the site, including social networking websites, have different privacy policies and are not subject to this privacy policy. PEI recommend that users read the privacy statement of each such website to find out how they treat and protect your personal information. PEI offer no warranties or assurances as to the policies of other websites and users visit and access these other websites at their own risk.

Security:

Any data you provide to PEI is kept on secure servers. PEI uses reasonable administrative, technical, personnel and physical measures to safeguard such data against loss, theft, unauthorized use, disclosure or modification and to ensure the integrity of that data. To help us protect your privacy, you should maintain the secrecy of the login ID you may have set up in connection with your access of the site. If in PEI’s reasonable opinion PEI considers that your ID has in any way been compromised and its use is contravening our terms & conditions PEI has the right to terminate access to the site at once and if appropriate to cancel without refund any subscription related to it.

Your Rights:

You have the right to ask us: for a confirmation on whether PEI processes your personal data, certain information in this regard and a copy of your personal data undergoing said processing; to correct, complete, delete or restrict (stop any active) processing of your personal data; to exercise your right to portability, i.e., to obtain the personal data you provide to us for a contract or with your consent in a structured, machine readable format; and to ask us to share (port) this data to another controller. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the EU Member State of your residence, or the location where the issue that is the subject of the complaint occurred.

Wherever PEI relies on your consent, you will always be able to withdraw that consent, although PEI may have other legal grounds for processing your data for other purposes, such as those set out in this privacy policy. In some cases, further to the purchase of a PEI product or service, PEI is able to send you direct marketing without your consent, in which case PEI relies on its legitimate interests.  You have an absolute right to opt-out of direct marketing, or profiling PEI carries out for direct marketing, at any time. You can do this by following the instructions in the communication where this is an electronic message, by logging in to your user account and changing the settings or by contacting us using the details set out below.

In addition, you can object to the processing of your personal data in some circumstances (in particular, where PEI does not have to process the data to meet a contractual or other legal requirement, or where PEI is using the data for direct marketing).

These rights may be limited, for example if fulfilling your request would reveal personal data about another person, or if you ask us to delete information which PEI is required by law to keep or has compelling legitimate interests in keeping.

Retention of Data:

Where PEI processes certain limited information about each user as part of the online registration process, PEI does this for as long as you are an active user of PEI’s sites, plus not less than 2 years thereafter.

Where PEI process personal data for marketing purposes or with your consent, PEI process the data until you ask us to stop and for a short period after this (to allow us to implement your requests). PEI also keeps a record of the fact that you have asked us not to send you direct marketing or to process your data indefinitely so that PEI can respect your request in future.

Where PEI process personal data for site security purposes, PEI retains it for as long as you are an active user of PEI’s sites, plus not less than 2 years thereafter.

Where PEI process personal data for online activity for analysis, PEI retains it for as long as you are an active user of PEI’s sites, plus not less than 2 years thereafter.

Where PEI process personal data in connection with performing a contract, PEI keeps the data for 6 years from your last interaction with us, which is consistent with the period of time that we retain the related contract.

Changes to this Notice:

From time-to-time PEI may make changes to this privacy policy to reflect any changes to PEI’s privacy practices in accordance with changes to legislation, best practice or site enhancements. PEI reserves the right to change this privacy policy at any time by posting revisions on this site and notifying you of such changes when you visit PEI’s site and/or by email.
